METRO TV'S "INDONESIA NOW" CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON-LOCATION IN BALI
Metro TV's groundbreaking internationally-distributed weekly program "Indonesia Now" marked its one-year anniversary with an on-location special from the resort island of Bali. The broadcast aired on Saturday, September 8, at 7 a.m., and on Sunday, September 9, at 5:30 p.m.
Anchors Dalton Tanonaka and Kania Sutisnawinata reported on the record-setting visitor year Bali is having, talked with former tourism minister Joop Ave on the resort's history and future, and examined life and culture on the predominantly Hindu island.
"Everyone's saying 'Bali is back,' and the numbers bear that out," says Tanonaka. "But no one forgets how the economy can be devastated by unforeseen events.”
Also featured in the program was the homegrown but internationally-known Jenggala Ceramics operation, and a peek at a $1,000 massage at an exclusive spa at the Ritz-Carlton Bali.
"Indonesia Now" debuted on September 1, 2006. It's seen throughout the world via satellite and internet TV. This was the first effort outside of the program's Jakarta studios, and plans are for more on-location specials.
